This new AI video editing tool is blowing my mind. WTF!
In 2019 I pitched an AI video editing tool for artists to a local business incubator.
Editing video was and still is the biggest (and most monotonous) time sink for me as an artist.
I know the possibilities and probabilities for my life and career are greatly enhanced the more short videos I post online, so it’s a worthy problem to solve.
The elevator pitch for the product was: AI that automatically generates short form videos from long form (song play thrus, interviews, podcasts etc…).
I just checked the receipts. This was literally at the exact same time “Musically” had rebranded to “TikTok.”
The writing was on the wall.
When TikTok became a thing, the short video game intensified.
To give themselves the highest likelihood for “success” - a new recording artist must now edit video as much, if not more, than they make music.
Many artists and business owners complain about it but that’s what it takes if you hope to be like the early adopters on YouTube.
You either align with the times or get left behind.
Anyhow…
Last week all the pretty ppl did an interview with Vault Music to support the release of our deluxe version of we’ll find our way.
The interview was 35 minutes long and it would help the cause immensely if there were an AI video editing tool that could help…
Enter: OpusClip 😎
The very product I pitched to Spark Saratoga in 2019 is now a reality.
Opus generated 24 short videos from my long form content and provided a detailed analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each video. 🤯

I will admit, the final product wasn’t great just yet. Each video will need some manual editing and adjusting, but the same can be said for the first version of ChatGPT.
Even so, OpusClip saved me a massive amount of time in the initial heavy lifting phase of going through a 35 minute video and coming up with ideas for short videos.
It’s the same reminder and exact same pattern I have seen the past 20 years with MySpace, iTunes, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Spotify, and TikTok.
In free markets, “next up”, is easy to spot simply by asking yourself: “what problems do I currently experience in art, Life, and business.”
In a world of 8 billion people, you definitely aren’t the only one experiencing the same problem. If enough people have a similar experience, a business is sure to be built around it.
I am very excited to see how AI video editing software will continue to advance in the coming year. It's all advancing so quickly it’s hard to think in timeframes bigger than that.
In peace & playfulness,
Ryan
